There is an unbelievable amount of HR software out there and just not enough time to demo them all. A couple of months ago, I signed up to CharlieHR just to see what it was all about. I had previously trialled BambooHR, but there were just too many features I couldn’t see us needing or using. We were looking for a system to store our employee records, to assist with onboarding and to simplify holiday tracking and CharlieHR was able to do just that.
The interface feels a bit like a social networking site and looks pretty cool. The free features include booking time off, pre-made reports, recording sickness and basic editing of company policies. A month ago, I decided to upgrade and now I have access to custom reports, apps and integration, onboarding checklists and unlimited document storage.
At first, I had a million and one questions about features, but the customer experience team were always there to help. At one point I think I even apologised for asking so many questions. If it wasn’t for their Customer Experience team, I don’t think I would have upgraded to CharlieHR+, they have been so helpful.
I can’t imagine CharlieHR is for every company out there as the features right now are pretty basic. It’s very UK focused at the moment, but I have been told this is something they are working on. Our team is roughly 50% UK and 50% international, so I look forward to new international features in the future.
I haven’t had the opportunity to take advantage of the onboarding features just yet, but we’ll be welcoming a few new starters over the next couple of months, so I’ll look forward to Charlie helping out with that!
I’ll probably reassess our HR systems once we hit 50+ employees, but CharlieHR does the job for now.
